PC Transport Systems (PC TS) presented its innovative articulated electric bus of the Pioneer family with overnight charging system at the transport festival held in St. Petersburg. This is an eighteen-meter, high passenger carrying capacity bus capable of travelling over 200 kilometers on a single battery charge. The batteries located on the roof are charged overnight.
In addition, the electric articulated bus produced by PC TS is a truly environmentally friendly product: it does not have an internal combustion engine, which is often used by other manufacturers to heat the interior. All systems and units are electrically powered. The strength and durability of the body is ensured by stainless steel.
Passengers enter the spacious low-floor interior through four wide doors with push buttons to open the same. They are equipped with an intuitive red-yellow-green door light that informs the passenger about the door position. The low floor and kneeling system (i.e. when the bus kneels towards the door) enable all categories of passengers to load and unload conveniently. Separate spaces with all necessary features are provided for families with children and for people with disabilities. The interior of the car is made of aluminum and hard-to-burn plastic.
It is comfortable to ride in the electric bus due to noiseless travel, three air conditioners and 38 nos. seats supplied with individual heating. Devices for charging gadgets in the bus have also been improved. The interior panels have USB connectors for regular and fast charging of mobile devices. The smooth travel of the vehicle and fast acceleration are guaranteed by two electrical bridge-type axles.
The Pioneer family articulated electric bus represents a combination of advanced global class engineering solutions and break-through innovative Russian developments.
The vast majority of the bus components are developed by domestic companies. Thus, the high-tech software, i.e. the "brains" of the bus, due to which it can travel, as well as the electrical equipment were developed and produced at St. Petersburg enterprises, and the battery systems were produced in Saratov.
"Very few companies worldwide are capable to build articulated electric buses. We have resolved the two ambitious tasks: we found engineering solutions for producing such a bus and provided maximum comfort to the passengers. Our vehicles can compete in comfort with a private car", Felix Vinokur, the President of PC Transport Systems, says.
The new electric articulated bus is designed to carry a large number of passengers on particularly busy routes in cities with millions of population, for example, in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Its carrying capacity is 140 passengers. Tests of the new articulated electric bus are to commence in summer in St. Petersburg.
